Texas Peanut Producers Board (TPPB) teamed up with weather broadcasters across the state to celebrate National Peanut Butter Lovers Month this November. Weather broadcasters and meteorologists are essential to keep farmers prepared and aware of upcoming weather as it affects their crops substantially.
Many of the Texas broadcasters look forward to receiving their #PBLoversMonth baskets each year such as Steve Kersh and the Amarillo ABC 7 News weather team who said, “Thanks @TexasPeanuts! We always look forward to receiving the basket, showing the basket on air… But mostly devouring its contents! Thanks for sending us another basket this year!” (see video above for their fun on-air Texas peanut quiz!)
Throughout Peanut Butter Lovers Month, TPPB sent a total of 50 baskets to of 16 different cities filled with local and Texas peanut products to broadcasters across the state. The peanut treats included peanut butter from HomePlate, Dill Pickle and White Cheddar Jalapeno peanuts from Lord Nut Levington, Texas peanut butter sandwich cookies from Kneaded Blessing Bakery, peanut butter macaroons from Simply Decadent Bakery and local jams from Kelle B Jammin’.
This year, TPPB received many responses from broadcasters with several on-air, video, and photo submissions. This year, TPPB tweeted the broadcasters to let them know about the celebration and to interact with them. Twitter helps meteorologists like Jim Fox from KRIV in Houston share their own #pblover moments with their viewers. Fox has a history of working in a peanut butter factory and wanted to add some #peanutbutter to his holiday season. (photo above.)
This promotion continues to bring awareness to Texas peanuts, peanut production in Texas, and of course, remind us all how peanut butter can bring people together!
